Welcome to the world of German doll artist Monika
Levenig. Monika Levenig was born 1946 in Werl, a
small town in the German "Ruhr Area", and has been
living and working there until today. Monika Levenig
is married and has three daughters. Human anatomy
has belonged to her education, as she used to work
freelancing in a medical profession for many years.
Monika Levenig has had her artistic initializing
experience while being handicapped by a skiing
accident, therefore unable to go out for a vacation
and instead deciding to participate at a dolls
making training course in Limburg, 1994. The fun in
creating dolls was born. Promoted by teachers like
the famous Hella Hofmann and longing for perfection
in handicraft and interesting themes she
continuously worked to refine her techniques and the
devellopment of her very own artistic language, her
special "handwriting". Even very early she gained
international reputation and honor which is
whitnessed by a big number of awards she has already
won. Never she had to regret her step into the
creation of prototypes for dolls manufacturing,
which has not been a very good decision for so many
of her colleagues. Today Monika Levenig belongs to
the most beloved artists in the national and
international dolls scene which would be quite
different without her. |
